Blaine Hammond

Biography

Blaine Hammond is a Retired Air Force Col. & NASA Astronaut. He became an astronaut in 1985. As a veteran of two space flights Col. Hammond has logged over 462 hours (19 days), traveled 310 Orbits, and over 8.0 million miles in space. He flew as Pilot of the Space Shuttle “Discovery” on two separate missions.
While serving in the Air Force, he logged over 4500 hours of flight time in 25 different types of aircraft. He now works for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. as a Sr. Experimental and Production Test Pilot.
